A new Regional Initiative for the Strengthening of Social Dialogue and Collective Labour Relations (IRDS) has been launched to reinforce the role of cooperation between governments, workers, and employers in shaping a fairer and more democratic world of work.
The initiative stems from the commitment of labour stakeholders to advance constructive dialogue and collective labour relations rooted in freedom of association and the promotion of collective bargaining.
Its main objective is to support countries in the region with the development of comprehensive and practical policy frameworks for social dialogue. These frameworks will take into account the unique realities of Latin American and Caribbean nations, their diverse economic contexts, and the common challenges they face.
Organizers say the effort is designed not only to resolve disputes but also to strengthen long-term understanding of labour relations systems. By addressing the root causes of industrial conflicts at both national and regional levels, the initiative aims to foster a culture of mature dialogue, reduce tensions, and promote more harmonious workplace relations across the region.
