The Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) has partnered with Moniepoint Inc. to expand access to finance and boost the capacity of Nigeria’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The initiative, unveiled at an event themed “Money in Motion: Unlocking Capital, Driving MSME Prosperity”, is designed to strengthen businesses and drive inclusive growth.

President and Chairman of Council, NBCC, Prince Abimbola Olashore, said the partnership reflects the chamber’s mission to go beyond trade promotion by focusing on innovation, capacity building, and financial inclusion.

“At the NBCC our mission has always been to promote trade and investment between Nigeria and the UK,” Olashore stated. “Today’s event demonstrates how that mission extends beyond traditional trade to include knowledge, innovation, and capacity building — vital elements for SME success in a global economy.”

Olashore stressed that thriving small businesses fuel national prosperity.

“When small businesses thrive, communities flourish, and nations prosper,” he said. “By empowering entrepreneurs, we are creating jobs, fostering innovation, and building a stronger foundation for sustainable economic growth.”

He commended Moniepoint for its role in advancing enterprise.

“Your collaboration exemplifies the power of strategic partnerships in advancing enterprise. Together, we are charting new paths for inclusive growth by ensuring SMEs are not left behind in the pursuit of prosperity,” Olashore added.

In his keynote, Senior Vice President, Distribution Network Sales at Moniepoint, Ezekiel Sanni, said the company’s financial products are already transforming thousands of businesses.

“So, what actually happens when money moves? At Moniepoint, we have seen the result of money in motion, not just capital being present,” Sanni explained. “Over the past two years, we have disbursed over ₦2 trillion in working capital loan overdrafts and inventory financing to more than 68,000 MSMEs across the country.”

Sanni also noted that Moniepoint supports nearly two million businesses nationwide with other solutions that enable them to operate more efficiently.

The NBCC–Moniepoint partnership is expected to scale further opportunities for Nigeria’s MSMEs, which contribute nearly 50% of the country’s GDP but often struggle with access to finance.
