Humanitarian Leaders Network Pays Courtesy Visit to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction: Strengthening Partnerships for Greater Impact

Abuja, Nigeria – May 6, 2025 — The Humanitarian Leaders Network (HLN) made a strategic courtesy visit to the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, where they were warmly received by the Honourable Minister of State, Hon. Yusuf T. Sununu. The visit was marked by fruitful deliberations on strengthening partnerships and exploring collaborative opportunities to drive greater impact in Nigeria’s humanitarian and poverty alleviation landscape.

Leading the delegation was HLN Founder and Global President, Shirley Murphy, accompanied by key national and regional leaders within the Network. Discussions focused on creating synergies between HLN’s grassroots initiatives and the Ministry’s national agenda, with emphasis on sustainable development, youth and women empowerment, health, education, and disaster response.

Hon. Yusuf T. Sununu, in his remarks, acknowledged the critical role HLN plays in community development and humanitarian leadership. He expressed the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with credible organizations like HLN in achieving inclusive growth and alleviating poverty across underserved regions.

  • Shirley Murphy, Founder & Global President, HLN

  • Kuochi Caroline Ndah, Vice Chairperson, HLN Abuja Chapter

  • Ashley Yusuf, Chairperson, HLN Abuja Chapter

From left to right, the delegation presented a united front of passionate leaders committed to making a difference. They shared progress on HLN’s ongoing initiatives and the organization’s vision for expanding its reach through national and international collaborations.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Shirley Murphy said:
“We are honored to engage with the Ministry on this strategic level. This dialogue opens new doors for impactful partnerships that will enhance service delivery and promote dignity, resilience, and transformation in communities across Nigeria.”

The Humanitarian Leaders Network continues to champion leadership, development, and humanitarian innovation, and looks forward to working closely with the Ministry to scale sustainable solutions for Nigeria’s most pressing challenges.
